The EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) created by EuroScience in 2004, is the largest biennial interdisciplinary meeting on science and innovation in Europe, for and with society.

ESOF brings together over 4,500 leading thinkers, innovators, policy makers, journalists and educators from more than 90 countries, to discuss current and future breakthroughs in contemporary science.

The 10th edition of ESOF will take place in Leiden, Netherlands, from 13 to 17 July 2022.

This year, the ERC will be present at ESOF with a rich programme.

ESOF Exhibition: the ERC will be present at the EU booth in Pieterskirk together with two comic artists who participated in the ERCcOMICS campaign, based on the power of visual storytelling to communicate science in an engaging way to reach large audiences. The exhibition is open to ESOF participants from Thursday 14 July 15:00 to Saturday 17 July, 01:30 and to the general public from 21:00 and the whole day of Saturday 16.

The Award aims to recognise ERC grantees who make the extra effort to engage with audiences beyond the scientific community and do so in effective and original ways.

During the ceremony, a prize of €10 000 will be awarded to the best applicant in each of three different categories: Involve (citizen science), Inspire (public outreach) and Influence (media and policy)
