In our fourth webinar, on 30 November, 3.00pm - 4.00pm IST, we will talk to Dr. Nicolas Gherardi, Deputy Counsellor for Education, Science and Culture at the Embassy of France in India and Dr. Srini Kaveri, Director of the CNRS Office in India about:
- the current status on Indo-French Cooperation in Research & Innovation
- the importance of Science Diplomacy
- the way forward for international cooperation and researchers' mobility
- their personal experience of living and working in India

About the Speakers
Dr Nicolas Gherardi is the Deputy Counsellor for Education, Science and Culture at the Embassy of France in India.
He holds a PhD in Applied Physics from Paul Sabatier University, Toulouse, France. He has been a research assistant at Minneapolis University, post-doctorate and associate professor at Toulouse University. He was then recruited as “chargé” and then “directeur de recherche” (i.e. full professor) in the French National Centre for Scientific Research (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, CNRS).
Dr Gherardi's research focuses on plasma physics and the surface modification of materials. He has published more than 70 papers in various peer-reviewed international journals, participated in more than 150 international conferences, including 26 as invited speaker. He holds 5 patents.
Since 2016, he has been part of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and was previously Incharge of the scientific and higher education cooperation in China.
Dr. Srini Kaveri, is the Director of the CNRS Office in India, located at the Embassy of France in New Delhi.
He received his Veterinary Medicine degree in Bangalore India, and his Ph.D. at the Pasteur Institute, Paris. He carried out his Post-doctoral research training in the University of California, San Diego, USA. Dr. Kaveri joined the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) of France in 1990. Since then he has been leading a research team, at the Faculty of Medicine in the University of Paris. Dr Kaveri’s research is focused on immunology, immunopathology and immunotherapy.
Dr. Srini Kaveri has been actively involved in Indo-French research activities. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB), Centre for Human Genetics (CGH) at Bangalore and Amity University, Noida. He co-directed an “International Associated Laboratory” (ICMR-INSERM) at theNational Institute of Immunohaematology, Mumbai India.
From February 2015, Dr. Kaveri represents CNRS as the Director of New Delhi Bureau at the French Embassy.
