Three researchers from Southeast Asia are among the awardees of the 2021 ”Green Talents – International Forum for High Potentials in Sustainable Development” Competition hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The forum promotes the international exchange of innovative green ideas.
The winners come from numerous countries and scientific disciplines and are recognised for their outstanding achievements in making our societies more sustainable. Selected by a jury of German experts, the award winners are granted unique access to the country’s research community.
In 2021 a high-ranking jury of expert scientists selected 25 up-and-coming researchers from among 467 applicants from 78 countries. The winners of the Green Talents Competition took part in the Virtual Science Forum as talented junior researchers in the field of sustainability science. It took the 25 Green Talents on an exciting virtual journey where they explore Germany’s sustainability research landscape, networked with German researchers and met their fellow award winners. At the end of the Virtual Science Forum, the 25 Green Talents were honoured by Dr Michael Meister, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Education and Research, during a virtual award ceremony on Friday, 15 October 2021.
Joining this year's winning batch are:
Dr Rongrong CHEACHAROEN (Thailand), Research Group Leader at Metallurgy and Materials Science Research Institute of Chulalongkorn University, Thailand
Dr Chosel P. LAWAGON (Philippines), Director at Center of Green Nanotechnology Innovations for Environmental Solutions, University of Mindanao, Philippines
