We are loooking for strong MSCA-IF-2019 candidates able to develop computational models for the rational design of MOF materials mimicking oxidase enzymes. The modeling will be multidemensional, both in terms of method (static and dynamic) and model (cluster and periodic). The project will be supervised by PI Dr. David Balcells at the Hylleraas Centre of Excellence for Quantum Molecular Sciences at the University of Oslo (Norway). The research will involve collaborations within a multidisciplinary team including experts in molecular dynamics (Prof. Cascella) and experimental catalysis (Profs. Tilset and Olsbye). The applicant will play a major role in submitting a competitive application to the MSCA-IF-2019 program, with the support of the PI.
What is funded
Salary at the postdoctoral level, with bonuses for a secondment abroad and family costs (if relevant).
Candidates are responsible to check if they comply with the general elegibility criteria set for the MSCA-IF-2019 call. We are specifically looking for applicants with a PhD who have a strong background in QM/MM molecular dynamics and periodic-DFT calculations, and who are willing to learn computational catalysis based on static calculations, cluster models, machine learning algorithms and microkinetic modeling.

We are part of the Hylleraas Centre for Quantum Molecular Sciences. This is a Centre of Excellence funded by the Norwegian Research Council. The mission of the Centre is to develop and apply computational methods to study the chemistry, physics and biology of molecules in complex and extreme environments. The Center has a strong focus on resolving systems both in space and time, and understanding matter-field interactions.
